Meow Meow Star Acres

Meow Meow Star Acres or simply Star Acres is a simulation game reminiscent of games like Zynga's Farmville and AppsTree's Hello Cappuccino.

A group of cat explorers discover a star-shaped island where they land and make a living by farming. Later on, these feline farmers will learn to bake, fry, grill, and catch fish to expand their livelihood.

The magical island, dubbed Star Island, has loads of surprises waiting to be discovered.

The Basics

Welcome to Star Island! Like any other simulation game, early levels are dedicated to walkthroughs. 

Level Up!

Players unlock more items, establishments, recipes, and increase the number of cat farmers upon a level up. In later levels, coins/rubies, and other decorative items are included as rewards for leveling up.

A new recruit arrives! Watch kitty descend or pop the balloons if you feel like it.

Land Expansion

Upon reaching certain levels, players are given the option to expand their land for a fee. A crew of cats is then summoned to do clearing operations or repairs. Unlike farming and cooking, land expansion doesn't need the usual cat recruits to get the job done.

Selling Your Merchandise

Customer orders

Tap on the store or the check mark on your screen's lower left to check current orders. Completed orders may be checked out while incomplete orders may be saved for later. Don't worry, customers on Star Island are patient enough to wait for their orders.

Sad customers

The "penalty" for turning your customers away

You can turn customers away if you're plagued with orders that you can't provide at the time being. Just be prepared to see their sad faces and wait for the next batch of customers after 5 minutes.

Some customers are generous enough to give you a pickaxe or an axe after buying something from your store. Once in a while, a customer may simultaneously give you both.

Tier 1 is complete!

Fishing is more fun on Star Island with the addition of collectible cards. Once a fish is caught for the first time, its data will be available to you. To catch fishes, you should tap the screen when your fishing line is within the cat outline. You get better stars if you're able to catch a fish within the innermost circle. Careful though, higher level fishes have more speed and a stronger pull!

Fishes can be sold and be used as ingredients for sushi.

Get more ideas on how to design your island by visiting other islands on the Suggested Islands list. Did a particular island catch your attention? You may add that island on your list by pressing the star button on the lower right screen. The cat icon below it represents the number of likes an island has.

Fireworks

While on board the kitty ship, you may purchase fireworks for your island. Once activated, these fireworks will show other players that you're an active player. You'll get more followers too.

Daily Bonus

Players receive their daily reward upon logging in. Don't forget to log-in and claim your daily bonus from your mailbox.

Cat Cans

Visit your friends' islands to find some cat cans! These cans may contain an axe/s, a pickaxe/s coins, rubies, decor, or promotional items from the current patch. Last Christmas, the game developers included festive decor and Yuletide goodies these cans.

Whack-a-mole

Be on the lookout for these creatures. These creatures are sources for extra experience once you give them a whack. Larger versions can be whacked repeatedly but for a limited time only.

Meteorites

                             

These sparkly stars contain a random surprise. You'll  need a pickaxe to see what's inside. 

Things that got me hooked to the game:

• Kitty avatars - they remind me of bobblehead collectibles.
• Detailed animation - it's fun to look at the cats while they're at work. You'll see a kitty fanning the grill, another cat flattening dough with a rolling pin, kitties watering the plot or trees, and more! Try tapping a running kitty to see what will happen. 
• No expiry dates - I could plant my crops and harvest them at the end of the day. The same goes with food products. Perhaps the magic on Star Island has something to do with it.
• Frequent updates - Star Acres always has new in-game stuff depending on the current season's theme. For the month of February, it's possible that the developers will release a Valentine's Day patch. 
• Internet connection - there's no need to be on-line to play the game unless you're going to claim items from your mailbox

Game issues:

• Game gets laggy when logging in while connected to the internet. Sometimes the welcome screen just freezes.
• Some food products take too long to make.
• Game interface gets screwed up sometimes, e.g. when accessing any food maker, the ingredients panel overlaps with the menu panel. I'll try to take a screencap of this when it happens again.
